Wednesday 22nd August
And so, this is probably the last blog of the holidays! Its been our last day here - tomorrow we'll be packing, hopefully having one final breakfast at Cora's (if we can find it), then it'll be off to the airport to hand back the car, etc etc!!! Seems strange that we won't actually arrive in UK until Friday morning!!
Today has been shopping, shopping and more shopping.... and what did we end up with...... one pair of golf shoes for a certain young man, who insisted on white!! Finally!!!
The weather today has been gorgeous, so why we spent the whole day either in the car, or in a shopping mall, I don't know!!!
We got seriously lost tonight. (Again!) This time we were on a road to nowhere, and couldn't get off it for miles and miles. We were almost at the airport, before we could turn round again! It took us an hour to drive a few km's - now I need to get yet more fuel to get us to the airport tomorrow!
We've had a wonderful holiday, and have lots of memories and photo's to bore you all with! It seems ages since we were last in Leeds - and it will be great to see everyone again (having said that, in a weeks time I could quite happily jump on a plane back to PEI!!!!!)

Tuesday 21 August
Woke up to gorgeous clear blue skies - what a wonderful day to leave our little island.
We drove down to Wood Islands, to catch the ferry across to Nova Scotia (thought it would be nice to travel back a slightly different way!) The ferry crossing was fab - like a mill pond, so we sat on the upper deck and relaxed in the sun for 75 minutes!
Once in Nova Scotia, we drove straight to Halifax, and checked into our hotel. Then it was down to Dartmouth Harbour to catch the ferry across to Halifax - which we love. Had a lovely walk along the boardwalk and an enormous energy juice drink. We walked into the town to find a bank for me (having absolutely no money as usual!) - and found a HSBC!!!! Got money out of my Nat West account, no problem!! Then.. the funniest thing... saw a man waiting to cross the road, who had obviously been to the rest room and not quite tucked himself in/zipped up properly - as there was quite a bit showing which shouldn't have been!!! Thing was, I looked at Charlotte - who had obviously spotted this too, and cracked up laughing - in fact couldn't stop!!!! It was hilarious - poor guy!!!
Once we'd got our last few dollars to last us until the end of our holiday - we went back on the ferry to Dartmouth, to the hotel for a swim. This one has a great water slide, but the water was freezing!!!
After showers, we headed to the Mic Mac Mall, for the last hour of shopping before it closed for the night! Didn't have time to do much damage... but there's always tomorrow!!!

Monday 20th August
Its our last day on PEI today - (boo hoo) - we will all really miss it.
Anyway, up to a cloudy windy day, which, according to the weather forcast is supposed to get better and better. Decided to golf first.... not a good idea! Got stuck behind some people who were hacking round the course at a snails pace, borrowed some really crap mens clubs - which I couldn't use, and lost 3 balls (well that's my excuse for playing so badly today!), and ended up with soaking wet feet - after walking through some bogs to try and find my lost balls!!!
After golf it was canoeing..... not such a good idea either!!! Just Flo and I were up for canoeing, Charlotte chickened out when she realised how windy it was (sensible girl). So, off we went, jumped in the canoe, and tried very hard to paddle to our floating pier - not easy, when the tide and the wind is sending you the opposite way! Everything was going really well, until I mentioned to Flo there was an earwig crawling near her feet. On hearing that, she almost capsized our canoe - (it didn't take much wobbling), and got shouted at!! Then we got stuck and waves were sending water over the side of the canoe - we both ended up soaked..... as did the camera, my credit card and the car key!! Eventually we managed to paddle back to where we started, and gave up as a bad job!!!
We had a quick bite to eat at the golfers lounge, then went swimming and relaxed in the sun (which had made an appearance by this time!). After swimming, Flo and I went on the sunset horse trail again - and this time, we managed a gorgeous sunset!! A fantastic end to our last day. Riding on the beach was brilliant - even let the horses paddle in the water!
Not many more entries to make for my blog, we've just 2 days in Halifax - Nova Scotia, then its home again. Could we please order some nice weather for our last week off work!!!

Sunday 19th August
Decided to make the most of the dry morning, and go on the golf range for an hour (apparently its going to rain later in the afternoon!!!). Great fun!
Then it was brunch at the hotel, and I've honestly never seen such a gorgeous buffet in my life. They seem to be really big on the Sunday brunch thing here, and certainly make the most of it!! Apart from every fruit possible, every kind of cheese, and a mega selection of bread etc, there was the usual breakfast stuff, (like eggs benedict!), as well as lunchy things like, mussles, roast sirloin of beef, pasta, potatoes, veg, salads, chowder and I could go on and on. Needless to say we got our money's worth!! Oh.... and the desserts....... well!!!!!
Thought we would do something nice and relaxing after all that food, so we had a go at lawn bowling, which was a good laugh. After bowling, it was on to the 9 hole golf couse, where Charlotte and I had a round. Some very tricky holes - have to say that as I managed to lose 3 balls on the way round!!! After golf it was to the outdoor pool, where Charlotte and Flo braved it, but I didn't!!!! Then we went to the indoor pool and spa to warm up!! (Told you we never stop - we'll be coming home for a rest!!)
Once we were all showered, we decided to have a trip back into Charlottetown - (it had started raining at this point), so 35 minutes later we were walking around our favourite place, with an ice-cream. Luckily, it stopped raining, so we wandered around the marina for a while, had some tea, then back to the hotel before it got too dark. I have to say I find it uncomfortable driving round here in the dark - as it just seems REALLY dark, no lights anywhere, no cats eyes, you can't see the road for dark trees on either side - but luckily no other cars either! - get the picture!!!
Todays highlight was almost running over an eagle, which was eating a dead racoon in the road. It was massive - would have probably done the car some damage if I had!

Saturday 18th August
Woke this morning to rain. Oh dear, according to the weather forcast, it was going to be showery ALL day!!
Anyway, never one to let a bit of rain spoil our adventures.... we jumped in the car, had a quick breakfast at Tim Hortons in Montagu and headed for the North side of the East coast (if that makes any sense!) Again, the scenery was wonderful - and we passed through some gorgeous little 'villages'. Crossed country again, to the East side and stopped at a little town called Souris - where we found a cute little fabric shop. Felt obliged to buy something, as the owner was so nice, and so proud of her place (but it obviously wasn't the busiest in the world!!)..... Karol Ann - don't get too excited!!!
After a lovely coffee, we headed back to the hotel for lunch in the golf lounge. Although at this point the weather had cleared up, we were disappointed to hear the driving range would be closed for the rest of the day - Nooooo - we like the range!! Instead we had a walk round one of the big 18 hole courses, well not round all of it, as it seemed to go on for miles and miles! We went to the woods and saw chipmunks and a red squirrel just inches away - so cute. Oh, have to mention, yesterday a tiny humming bird looking thing came on to our balcony. Never seen anything so small - must find out what it was!
After our walk, the girls went into the pool, and I went to the fitness room, then joined them in the pool - which we had to ourselves for most of the time!
Tea was at Pizza Delight, again in Montagu (there's nothing nearer!) - and took the opportunity of doing a last minute wash at the launderama, while it was throwing it down with rain!!!(Aggh!)
Its meant to rain again tomorrow - hope they're wrong!!

Friday 17 August
For some strange reason had a bit of an activity day today!! Woke up to thick cloud - its so like England here weather wise... yesterday it was red hot and today it isn't!!!
Anyway, it was breakfast, followed by the gym, and a swim (in the indoor pool!!). A quick shower each, then into the car to Montagu for a sandwich. Back to the hotel for some golf. We borrowed a full set of Calloway golf clubs, then went to the range to hit some balls. We all loved it, and were there ages. There's also a great practise area with bunkers, chipping areas and a huge green for putting. The best bit was the Big Bertha (for non golfers, its the biggest club you've ever seen, and if you hit it well, it goes miles!!) Actually, even better, it's all complimentary. (The courses aren't though - they cost a fortune to play on!)
After golf, we decided to hire bikes, and cycle along the confederation trail for an hour or so. Of course the girls managed to find some mud, and ended up splattered!
The girls were desperate to watch 'High School Musical 2' tonight, which is on the tv, so we had a quick bite to eat, and even quicker walk round the river - then back to the room, to rest our wearly legs, in front of the telly!!

Thursday 16th August
Packed up, loaded the car and headed into Charlottetown for breakfast at Cora's. Soooooo good here!!! As usual, we had to do our walk round the marina, and the town, before setting off on our journey to Brudenell River, which is on the East side of the island...
We arrived 40 minutes later - far too early to check in, but thought we'd chance our room being ready - which it was!! I'd booked a 'cabin' for our 5 day stay here - complete with kitchenette - so we were really looking forward to a bit of 'home from home' for a few days. The girls are dying for me to cook something - (after a while, you definitely get a bit fed up eating out the whole time - and it does NOTHING for your figure!!!). Anyway, we checked out our cabin - and all laughed. Think bedroom with a sink and microwave in the corner, and a portable hob in the cupboard. No sign of any pans or anything to cook with!!! We all looked at each other and remarked on the 'funny' smell at the same time - so it was back to the hotel, to see if they had any of their deluxe rooms available instead!!! Thankfully the answer was yes, and even more thankfully, they agreed we could have the room at the same rate as the cabin - GREAT!!! The room is lovely, and has a superb view overlooking the pool and the river.
We had a walk round the grounds, went down to the river, then sat round the outdoor pool in the sun for an hour. Only Charlotte braved the water - felt too cold to me!!
Had a drive to the nearby town of Montagu - there's a Tim Horton's (yeah), so of course had to have a coffee!! Went to the smallest library in Canada - another 'PEI attraction', and yes, it was small. Had 1,000 books though!
Back to our hotel, where Flo and I had a sunset/beach trail ride, which was amazing! Charlotte decided she didn't like horses anymore, and would rather stay in the room for an hour! The ride was brilliant - just a shame it had clouded over and you couldn't actually see the sunset, or it would have been perfect!
Dinner tonight was in the Hotel's Club 19 restaurant - where I had sirloin steak, and rather embarrassingly managed to flick it off my plate and onto the floor a few feet away!!!! Lol....

Wednesday 15th August
Nice sunny morning, so decided to do more exploring, and check out the North coast. Its amazing how you can literally go from the South to the North in half and hour!!
The beaches were lovely, and we managed a little relaxation (for a short time!). There was nowhere around for lunch, so we ended up at a golf club - and got sandwiches to takeaway. Thought it best not eating there, as we were all in little tops, shorts and flip flops - and we all know what golfers are like!!!
After lunch, I found us a nice nature trail to follow. Not one of my best ideas, as it was through woodland, and I was attacked by mossies (as usual!!)... pretty though.
Back to Charlottetown - for a walk around (yes... again!), then I found another nature trail, which we walked along - much to the girls initial disapproval!! That soon changed when we spotted local wildlife feet away, in the form of red squirrels and chipmunks......aww so sweet!

Tuesday 14th August
Bit of a cloudy start, so out to the shops for an hour or so! We headed for the other mall today - not too big, but better than yesterdays by 100%!
After shopping we went to downtown Charlottetown, for a good wander around - its so lovely here - I know I keep saying that, but the city is just so charming! We went to Peakes Quay for lunch, and sat on the deck overlooking the marina, which was great. Then the sun decided to come out, which meant we were rather overdressed, so it was back to the hotel to change, before our 'Harbour Hippo' trip!!! Yes I admit, it does sound rather cheesy - but....
........our 'Harbour Hippo' trip was a land and sea tour of Charlottetown, and was brill!!! The best bit was going straight into the water from the road, (and getting out of the water again at the end)!!! We did actually learn lots from our tour guide - really useful things like - the population of P.E.I. is 141,000!!!! - there is only one escalator on the whole of the island (in the crappy mall we went to yesterday - apparently it's a big attraction here!!), there are no bears on the island....... !!! Anyway we had great fun - and even the girls loved it, so no comments please (you have to remember this sort of thing is a huge visitor attraction here!!)
We then went for a coffee to a very cosmopolitan street cafe - and had another walk around the city, before going back to the hotel to get ready for dinner!

Monday August 13th
...... and it rained again!!!
Woke up this morning, and switched the tv on, only to hear that it was going to be showery all day!! Great - that means more shopping!!
We had breakfast in the hotel - bagels and fruit etc then went to downtown Charlottetown, to hit the shops, in what looked like the biggest mall in the city. Left the girls to have a wander around, an arranged to meet them in an hour. Meanwhile, I went to the bank, actually managed to withdraw $200 from the ATM (wow, - I can't believe it - why today and not any of the other two dozen times I've tried!). I then spent the next 10 minutes walking round the shops, and was done! The shops mainly comprised of Granny's crafts, Aunt Mabels knitting delights, plus size fashions (which I actually did go into - and then realised it maybe wasn't quite for me!!), Prince Edward Island merchandise - (don't worry no one is getting a potato logo t-shirt), etc etc.... you've got the picture! Its the first time the girls have asked to leave a shopping centre!
We then went on one of my discovery expeditions, and ended up in a gorgeous neighbourhood called Stratford, where we found you all new houses!! Definitely the place to live - and the prices are so cheap - $150k - $200k for a fantastic detached family home overlooking the sea!
We also stopped at a beach, futher along the coast - but decided against our usual hike, seeing as though it had started raining!
Back to the hotel via Shoppers Drug Mart (similar to a big Boots) - where we stocked up on a few necessities. (Actually not necessities, but things we liked the look of, and the price of!) For some reason, their nail varnish is dirt cheap - so we now seem to have every colour possible. Watch out - some of you might just be getting some... hehe!! Oh, and guess what - they also sell the Boots No 7 range - and their Protect and Perfect is $25!!!!!! How on earth do they sell it cheaper than in England???
Had yet another problem, trying to fill the damm car up. Its the one thing so far which I don't like. I tried to use the prepay pump - but it declined both my visa and mastercard - not good when there is a queue of people waiting behind you. Then drove round to a different pump - fine... but once you stop filling, thats it! Even if you do it accidentally after $5!!!! You have to go and pay, then start over again!! At least we've now figured which side the petrol cap is on!!
Staying at the hotel for the rest of the evening - chilling in our room - we're all in need of some quiet time. (I get seriously told off by the girls for my inability to sit still for more than 5 mins at a time!)
Woke up this morning, and switched the tv on, only to hear that it was going to be showery all day!! Great - that means more shopping!!
We had breakfast in the hotel - bagels and fruit etc then went to downtown Charlottetown, to hit the shops, in what looked like the biggest mall in the city. Left the girls to have a wander around, an arranged to meet them in an hour. Meanwhile, I went to the bank, actually managed to withdraw $200 from the ATM (wow, - I can't believe it - why today and not any of the other two dozen times I've tried!). I then spent the next 10 minutes walking round the shops, and was done! The shops mainly comprised of Granny's crafts, Aunt Mabels knitting delights, plus size fashions (which I actually did go into - and then realised it maybe wasn't quite for me!!), Prince Edward Island merchandise - (don't worry no one is getting a potato logo t-shirt), etc etc.... you've got the picture! Its the first time the girls have asked to leave a shopping centre!
We then went on one of my discovery expeditions, and ended up in a gorgeous neighbourhood called Stratford, where we found you all new houses!! Definitely the place to live - and the prices are so cheap - $150k - $200k for a fantastic detached family home overlooking the sea!
We also stopped at a beach, futher along the coast - but decided against our usual hike, seeing as though it had started raining!
Back to the hotel via Shoppers Drug Mart (similar to a big Boots) - where we stocked up on a few necessities. (Actually not necessities, but things we liked the look of, and the price of!) For some reason, their nail varnish is dirt cheap - so we now seem to have every colour possible. Watch out - some of you might just be getting some... hehe!! Oh, and guess what - they also sell the Boots No 7 range - and their Protect and Perfect is $25!!!!!! How on earth do they sell it cheaper than in England???
Had yet another problem, trying to fill the damm car up. Its the one thing so far which I don't like. I tried to use the prepay pump - but it declined both my visa and mastercard - not good when there is a queue of people waiting behind you. Then drove round to a different pump - fine... but once you stop filling, thats it! Even if you do it accidentally after $5!!!! You have to go and pay, then start over again!! At least we've now figured which side the petrol cap is on!!
